Career Counseling at AmberEd

Word Art_Career.png

Amber has been evangelizing the power of LinkedIn career outcome data for decision-making on college, career, and professional networking since 2014 when she was with the LinkedIn Higher Ed team. Beyond that, Amber is a big advocator for data-driven insights and actionable strategies.

Amber continues such a mission for data after starting her second career as an independent educational consultant. Her debut talk was presented to community-based college coaches and elite university students from Matriculate on CollegePoint 2019 Annual Convening at John Hopkins. Since then, she started to work with high school guidance counselors, educational NGOs, and peer IECs to integrate the data approach and tools into real-world college counseling practices.

Though AmberEd primarily works with high school students and families for college admission counseling, Amber is also more than happy to provide data-based career counseling and training service to college counseling professionals in both high schools and higher ed institutes. Please contact us for more details about this service.

  • Admission Officers

If you are in charge of your university’s recruitment in certain regions and countries, you may find the data is extremely insightful for your pitch, especially for international recruitment.

We could help your find and interpret the job placement and career trajectories data of graduates by current region, industry, job function, the field of study at school, and graduation year - what you can vividly depict to prospective students.

In addition, your alumni relations and social media colleagues might be interested in exploring and weaving the insights into the fabric of your own internal database.

  • Guidance Counselors

Are you tired of USNews ranking and the cliche of big names? Do you want to learn an innovative, data-based, and career-oriented method to counsel high schoolers and parents? Are you curious about using career outcomes and salary data to work with students on selecting target and safety schools?

If YES to any of the questions above, let’s talk! Remember, the data approach works for not only U.S. domestic students but also international students.

If you have a cohort of IB Career-related Programme (CP) students, we’re happy to research together with you on how to leverage the data approach for your curriculum design.

  • Independent Consultants

Not every student who can afford to hire IECs knows exactly what he/she wants to study in college, but he/she more or less a few names of their dream companies. These are usually our starting points - knowing the names of the companies (universities) and see how their families are connected to people who work or once studied there. All of these could lead to informal chats and networking, students’ first internships, and even their first formal job.

These are the values our career-oriented data approach could add to your counseling practices. Besides, it also helps with your marketing among families with strong professional networks.
